Today we introduce Sam Gregg @samalexandergregg who is one of the artists on display selected by an internationally acclaimed jury ✨Here a sneak peek at Sam’s work on display - From the series ‘See Naples and Die’ ? ‘Naples is one of the most, if not most diverse cities in modern Italy. At a time when nationality and immigration is centrefold to Italian current affairs, the story of Naples, both past and present, is one to be upheld as a symbol of cultural amalgamation. Undoubtedly, there are complexities that arise with the delicate issue of diversification, and Naples certainly isn’t without its problems, however, the city’s rich and varied colonial past has certainly helped to nurture a foundation of cultural acceptance. The cultural identity of Naples has exchanged hands on several different occasions over the past two millennia, leading to an amalgamation of traits and customs that are uniquely Neapolitan. Founded by the Greeks and occupied by the Turks, Romans, Spanish and French at varying points in the city’s history, diversity has always been a part of Neapolitan culture. The Neapolitans, especially those from the central areas of Quartieri Spagnoli and Sanità, firmly believe that they are cut from a different cloth. The way they talk, the way they dress, and indeed the very physical make-up of their being is different. Even in the face of prejudice they embrace their differences wholeheartedly, and ironically although they strive for singularity, they are comprised of diversity.’ #SamGregg
