If you look towards the bottom of this picture you’ll see my hand just about to get amputated by @punkerpat’s board ... luckily Punker’s rail tapped my pole and his skeg must have missed my hand by inches which would have been a guaranteed trip to the ER ... a lot of times we look at surf photos and think “That’s a nice image” but what isn’t realized especially in shots where @scottaichner or @zaknoyle have shot inches under the rail of surfers at deadly waves like Backdoor is that in order to get these shots the photographer had to precisely position themselves in places where they’re flirting with serious injury ... in those moments it takes a level of trust between athlete and photographer ... and many of the best surf images we see were captured with a narrow line between capturing a great shot and suffering serious consequences ... respect to all photographers who take the risk and the athletes who trust them to do so #GoProFusion #3kframegrab #GoPro @hurley
