“Kids don’t care how much you know, they care how much you CARE.” That’s a quote from one of the women sitting at my #redtabletalk after I said “what about algebra!!!” I still can’t get it out of my mind. It made me cry. The table I hosted was given the topic #Mothers & #parenting SPOILER ALERT: I’m neither a mother or parent. So hosting this table was a real ?♀️?♀️?♀️. I had my list of questions and my badge and I thought I was READY!I’ll ask the questions,you guys will talk, I’ll eat a cheeseburger, great day for all, right? I never could have been “ready” for all of the things we ended up talking about. Depression, dating, discipline, chores, sacrifice, love. People shared their struggles and fears but also where they found their power. I ended up sharing things at that table about my insecurities and short comings that, outside of my very closest friends, I’ve never spoken about publicly. I got up from each group that came through feeling more and more overwhelmed with gratitude. How lucky are we to live in a time where women/men seek out ways to support and find commonality in one another not compete for best in the show of life! Thank you Paul @sewingspades for giving me this topic to discuss. Thank you to each of my red table friends for your vulnerability. And thanks @jadapinkettsmith for bringing us together.
