Today we introduce Maxim Vakhovskiy @maximushka who is one of the artists on display selected by an internationally acclaimed jury ✨Here a sneak peek at Maxim’s work on display ? ‘Through the poetic solemness of classic portraiture, with simple light and haunting emphasis on the subject, I aim to celebrate everyday women representing a spectrum of whispering beauty — mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends, rebels — from artists to soldiers, bravely giving a glimpse into their narrative of womanhood and humanhood. Inspirations ignite from classical art, like Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” and versions of Madonna and Child, all being symbols of a woman’s magic and majesty. I am further inspired by the works of African photographers Seydou Keïta and Malick Sidibé, the stark portraiture of Richard Avedon and Irving Penn, and contemporary masters Paolo Roversi and Annie Leibovitz. The images are created without facades of heavy direction and editing, telling stories of diversity and illuminating visual signs reflective of the life and plight of each individual subject. The scars, stretch marks and idiosyncrasies of personal body language are all present and part of the gestalt of the body’s art — offering the idea that sometimes the most intricate and powerful thing you can wear is your authentic self. It’s beautiful, intimate, and unabashedly liberating.’ #MaximVakhovskiy
