An interfaith candlelight vigil is held a few blocks away from the site of a mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Oct. 27. A gunman who is believed to have spewed anti-Semitic slurs and rhetoric on social media barged into the #synagogue and opened fire, the Associated Press reports, killing 11 people in one of the deadliest attacks on Jews in American history. The 20-minute attack in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood left six others wounded, including four police officers. Robert Bowers, the suspect, traded gunfire with authorities and was shot several times.
