Inspired by Norman Rockwell’s paintings of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms (1941)—freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear, For Freedoms is a collective that investigates how art and artists can shape ideas and inspire action in American society. The collective produces exhibitions, installations, public programs, and billboard campaigns to advocate for inclusive civic participation and dialogue. In the lead up to the midterm elections, they launched their 50 State Initiative, in which partnerships with over 150 institutions in all 50 States feature concurrent exhibitions, art installations and public programs addressing the important issues of our time.
