Meet Grace Miceli (@artbabygirl) She’s an artist originally from Illinois, but you can now catch her around Brooklyn, NY. Her distinct art aesthetic has been self-described as “cute, with a little bit of existential dread” which is obv extremely relatable. Putting her art on Instagram has led to many friendships and close connections, which she says is the best part of using this platform.
When asked how she creates such a great feed and has built a following, she said to make sure to always post work that feels genuine, but also to pay attention to what your audience responds to. She’s always looking to find feedback, which she thinks is super valuable for growing as an artist.
She’s inspired by a laundry list of things including, but not limited to: her dog Tony, therapy, the suburbs, her friends, Amy Sedaris, horror films, forests, Werner Herzog, Lisa Frank, Tokyo, and cartoons. And as you can see from some of her work, she’s inspired to illustrate things like cereal boxes, animals, underwear, or any everyday objects that makes her feel something.
Her biggest passions are supporting her friends and learning new things — she says to follow @aleia @servideo @luhshawnay — and says her proudest accomplishment has been having some of her animations already screened at the Museum of Modern Art!
