In between seeing patients today, Ana gave me my flu shot. Yes, it’s true that the efficacy is low by vaccine standards, but low is better than zero, and there is data to suggest that if you DO get flu after having been vaccinated, the symptoms and risk of complications is less. Having had influenza twice in my life, I can tell you I’ve never been sicker. I missed over a week of work both times. I once cared for a pregnant teen who DIED of flu- related complications. I take this seriously. It’s not “a bad cold”... #flu
