This is a collaboration with the Islay Lifeboat Operations Manager, Coxswain and the volunteers to make sure the boat is in the right place at the right time. We plan an exercise several days in advance assessing the location, weather, sea conditions, light and time of day, usually late afternoon in the golden hour just as the light is falling for the best atmosphere, with wind against tide to give the water more shape. The location is important, whenever possible making sure the boat is seen with a recognisable backdrop.
