#storytime ?: The first time I ever came to Europe was when I was 7. (It was also the first time I ever skied during the summer! I thought skiing during summer was insane?)... Anyway, I came to Hintertux with my family and some friends and we skied for a couple weeks, then toured around Europe. I got one of those pretty masquerade ball masks from a street vender in Venice, went to South of France for the first time, learned what Lederhosen are (?) ate a TON of Schnitzel, and skied, skied, skied?⛷?! At a time when I still assumed the world didn’t extend much farther than my backyard, I spelled “Austria” like “Osterrea” and I didn’t think that skiing during the summer was even possible, this trip blew my mind. I feel like my career has had many “beginnings”... the first time I put on skis, the first time I did a Nastar race, the first time I used a pair of bent GS poles (the list goes on)... but this trip was one of the most important “beginnings” for me, ironically I had absolutely no clue what was starting?. Flash forward 16 years... I’m back in Hintertux for the first time since that camp! You could say the memories are flooding back ?☺️.
