#comingout took me a long time. at my first communion (left,) i walked down the church aisle next to a boy named Jacob. i reflected on it in my book, but essentially - i thought i had a crush on him but really just wanted to BE him. i didn’t have the words at the time, but meeting an out trans person years later showed me who i was and who i was to become. in the right photo, i am 9 years on testosterone, 8 years post top surgery, and 6 years post hysterectomy... and thankful to be alive.

being transgender in today’s world is not easy. it is an act of self perseverance to transition and self preservation to be out to only those we feel safe being out to. i am blessed, privileged, and amazed that i am as out now as i was when i first put a video of my day one on T on YouTube. i’ve wanted, really needed, to use my privilege to help others and i truly hope i have.
