#worldmentalhealthday ? anxiety disorder and panic attacks are something that ruined a whole year of my life when I was 16 and something that I’m very lucky to be in control of now. I used to sit and google ‘singers with anxiety’ ‘do successful people have anxiety’ because I didn’t know anyone else that had experienced it and thought it was a sign of weakness. Over the years it’s become a lot more talked about and I just wanna remind you today that you’re not the only one, however you’re feeling. also that it doesn’t limit your chances at success and achieving your dreams. what was really helpful for me was going to speak to a therapist (the NHS are amazing), changing the way I breathe and think, the type of thoughts that I have and forcing myself out the house as hard as it may have been. a couple years ago I experienced depression properly for the first time after being dropped from the label I was on, feeling like my career was over and generally being very lost. I cried pretty much every day mostly for no reason, sometimes uncontrollably in public, I didn’t wanna get out of bed or feel motivated to do anything and didn’t really see point in my life. again, as horrendous as this experience was and as difficult as it was to get through the other end, it wasn’t permanent for me luckily and I now honestly feel like I’ve got great control over my mental health. what helped me most was talking to the people close to me and always telling someone how I felt. Trying to find something I was passionate about again and focussing all my energy on to that really helped. Sending love to everyone today and remember there’s always somebody out there ?
