“You got into Harvard??” “What, like it’s hard?” On my recent trip to Boston, I visited Harvard and styled this very classic/collegiate/Hermione look. As an adult, I’m often asked - where did you go to college? I used to dread this question, because really, I didn’t complete much of a formal education. I left high school when I was a sophomore by testing out, and then took classes on and off at community college from age 16-19. I never took the SATs or received a degree. I’ve never walked in a graduation - in fact, my high school diploma is a print out, mailed to me by the state of California. I used to hate being asked about my education and would backpedal out of conversations surrounding “what did you study” because I really never had a particular goal with school; I just took classes. I used to feel so inferior being in a situation where I realized I was the only one without a diploma. I don’t feel that way anymore. I think it was just never going to be part of my path, and I think for some people that’s just the way it is. // edited this to say - I don’t really have a big overarching message to this caption, and if you went to college and graduated, I think that’s amazing. Not trying to say one way is better than the other, just trying to tell my own story.
