Banksy painting self-destructs immediately after being sold at auction. ? No one knows exactly why (or how) Banksy pulled of his latest stunt: shredding one of his paintings just after it was auctioned off for $1.4 million. Banksy posted a video confirming that he had secretly built a shredder into the painting, “in case it was ever put up for auction.” ? Sotheby’s, the auction house where it was sold, said it’s now “in discussion about next steps” with the unidentified buyer.
