@actions4change festival was a powerful day of healing, music and activism in Parkland Florida. It was an honor to be in attendance with Alyssa Milano @milano_alyssa , artists, chefs and the mighty students and parents of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School at the event together as a call to action for voting for gun reform candidates, fundraising for @changetheref and as a day of celebrating the lives of the 15 children and 2 teachers who were killed on Feb 14th 2018. I was moved by meeting the Manuel and Patricia Oliver who’s son Joaquin, who was killed in the attack. Both of them are committed to keeping their son’s voice alive by working daily to find solutions to gun violence in our country. I met with the Jose and Beth Gonzalez the parents of @emmawise18 Emma Gonzalez who’s “We call B.S!” speech has become a rallying cry for the movement(Emma was away at college and could not be there). I also had the honor to meet with MSD High teacher Ivy Shamus who had two children killed in her class. She had visited with a Holocaust earlier in the day who shared with her this wisdom,”No pain should be wasted”. Meaning that from great pain, comes great energy and that energy should be put to good use, to prevent similar pain in the future. I want to send a shout out to @nahkobear @skipmarley and all the other artists and chefs who were there to feel and inspire and especially to the students and families of MSD High School who continue to shine bright and not allow the issue of gun violence to fall off the radar. #parkland #changetheref #vote #stayhuman #gunreform #gunsafety @everytown
