Know what is going on so you can be a part of the change! @yearsofliving “The hurricanes we have recently experienced serve as tragic reminders of the fragile nature of the climate. As a student studying environmental science, I pay close attention to these unfortunate events. If you saw the pictures of the hurricane from space, you would have seen how our atmosphere is so thin. Anthropogenic activities are creating a long term chemical imbalance within the only atmosphere we have and this is bad news if you plan on living here on earth.

As an aspiring environmental scientist I want to be able to say that everything will be okay. But it will not be okay unless we act now! That is why putting a price on carbon is a crucial move we have to make. It is no one’s place to sit this out. In fact, it is irresponsible on every level. Currently, we emit about 2.57 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every second. Now, think about that picture of the earth from space. We can’t let this go on, especially when most of it is happening so only a few people can profit by practically poisoning the planet. This is one of the greatest injustices and it's happening in plain sight each and every day.

I joined Our Climate because I needed to funnel my energy of frustration into something hopeful. Raising the price to be a polluter is great because the less people pollute, the more money they save and the more they can invest in clean energy and environmental programs to make the planet a healthier place for us and countless generations to come. It is our place to do just that and I believe we can change the world.”
