You ask that we don’t assume guilt for the accused but women are so often deemed guilty of “asking for it” or being “whores” just for coming forward. Women have more to prove, even when innocent, because we don’t have the power.
We are not asking society to blindly accuse a man if a woman accuses him of assault. We are asking that the knee jerk reaction to our coming forward not be to shame and blame. We are merely asking to be heard and taken seriously, as victims. The same rights and respect we give those who assault us.
