In his final regular season start vs. the Astros, Gibson notched his 13th shutout of the year, allowing just six hits and striking out 11. The team needed every bit of his dominant performance as Gibby won his fourth game of the season by a score of 1-0.
Bob’s historic regular season ended with a 22-9 record, and a Major League leading 268 strikeouts over 304.2 IP (34 starts). His 1.12 ERA set a new MLB live-ball era record (which still stands), and was the lowest since Dutch Leonard’s 0.96 mark in 1914.
