What an extraordinary, inspiring, energizing evening. Speaker Nancy Pelosi hosted a fundraiser for Democratic candidates running for office for the midterms. 23 candidates from across the US— from Iowa, to Florida, to Kansas, to New Mexico and they all spoke about why they are running and how with people’s support they can make life better for the constituents in their individual states. Rep. Adam Schiff was on hand, and I gushed my gratitude for his leadership and strong and steady public voice. Rep. Ted Lieu was there and I was able to thank him for his strong, assertive presence on Twitter in addition to his daily work on behalf of California. Jeffrey Katzenberg was the welcoming and witty organizer of this massive undertaking, & Marcy Carsey opened her gorgeous home to all 100+ of us, including the extraordinary & always politically active Norman Lear. Eric & I did some light banter and introductions but it was really a gift to us to be included in such a special night. James Taylor capped off the night with his legendary crooning. The evening was a call to focus for the next 43 days. There’re just 6?tuesdays until Election Day. Please—- volunteer to canvas, knock on doors, make calls, organize carpooling to the polls so older citizens can vote—- do whatever you can. It is the most important election in 50 years. We all need to buckle down. We can’t make ANY assumptions. So many races are close. This is when we all have to dig deep. Give what you can. Do what you can.
