Part of the film crew from #FreeSolo on top of El Cap taking a rare moment to rest…and play a mean game of Bananagrams. Alex is smiling because he’s unable to help himself from back seat Bananagramming. He’s pretty good….just maybe not as good as he thinks he is ? The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of travel, film festivals and screenings for #freesolo. Awesome to have so much of the crew at the premiere last week. This wasn’t a job for the faint of heart, nor was it a project you could be half committed to. We asked a lot of everyone both physically and emotionally. We often slogged through 12 hour days on the wall rigging, shooting, not dropping cameras or lenses or anything... Everyone also had to remain neutral around Alex throughout the shoot to shield him from any of the production pressure and/or personal concerns. Not an easy task considering they were all his friends. This meant two years without discouragement or encouragement, only the kind of friendship that would create a safe space for him. The film was only made possible with 100% commitment from the team, a lot of heart and an endlessly positive attitude. They were extraordinary. Shot on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック.
