In 1997 when I was a senior in high school I created and directed a variety show with the help of all my art school friends to raise money for local HIV and AIDS Charities. Last night was the 22nd Annual AIDS Benefit at the @chicagoacademyforthearts and me and most of the original cast showed up to watch these brilliant young people keeping our legacy alive. The show was gorgeous, inspiring, powerful, and these kids were A LOT better than we were! Whenever people ask me what song or career milestone I’m most proud of I say “the fact that my high school AIDS Benefit still lives on today.”
