Cat Mom here again ??‍♀️... As promised, here is Bean’s rescue story: In late August of 2011 Monk and I moved back to NY after living in Florida for almost a year. I had taken a new job overseeing two group homes for adolescents. When I was hired the CEO and I had discussed our love for cats. She told me of a mama cat raising small kittens under her deck, and asked me if I wanted one. I told her I couldn’t have another as a renter. . One day I came into work and was greeted by my supervisor (CEO) and a small baby panther. She says “just hold him” so I did. (This was a slick move on her part). I, of course, melted and agreed to foster him. That day I drove home with the smallest ball of fuzz nuzzled into my neck. . The moment I brought Bean (who was not yet named) home Monk leaped off the couch, ran over and practically climbed up my leg to see what I had. But he knew. He already knew exactly what I had... A new best friend. . Baby Bean saw the vet and got a clean bill of health. He was not in the condition that Monk was in when he was rescued. Bean was fluffy, clean(ish) and seemingly well fed. I bathed him. Monk helped, literally. Monk jumped up on the toilet and kept placing his paw in the sink trying to assist in washing his new friend. (swipe to see photo) . Monk quickly took on a nurturing role. He would pin Bean down and lick him like a mama would do and came running if he heard Bean let out a cry. He snuggled him closely... so close that sometimes I couldn’t tell where one cat ended and the other began. Inseparable. . I realized that Monk and Bean were meant to be just as Monk and I were meant to be. So, he quickly became a #fosterfail. . His original name was Alfie, short for Alfalfa, because his fur would stick up. He was nicknamed Bean because he was the tiniest little black bean. (Now Bean is almost double Monk’s size) ? . I only worked for that organization briefly. At that time they were having funding issues and paychecks were late, leaving me struggling. I even had a paycheck bounce. I resigned shortly thereafter. When I look back now, I realize that job wasn’t meant to be anything more. It’s sole purpose was to bring me Bean. #divinealignment
