Meet baby Nahawa, born one week premature and underweight in Bougouni, Mali. She’s being kept warm and nourished through breastfeeding and skin-to-skin contact with her mother. Most newborn deaths in Mali are the result of asphyxia, infections or prematurity. These deaths are largely preventable with the help of quality, affordable health care. Despite progress, mothers and newborn babies face steep challenges. In Koumantou, down the road from where Nahawa lives, there’s only one doctor, trained by UNICEF, to serve the entire population. To save more lives, we’re calling on governments to invest more in maternal and child health. #EveryChildALIVE #HealthForAll
