This is me looking sheepish ten years ago wearing @メアリーカトランズ ‘s @mafcsm collection in Paris. This was before ppl figured out their streetstyle angles and it was @tommyton who took this pic as a favour. Most ppl will remember the perfume bottle collection Katrantzou debuted at LFW but it was her trompe l’oil necklace strong shouldered dresses in her MA that hooked me in with what was at the time an innovative way of placing print. Last night she got to reflect back on a decade of her digital printed, mega embellished universe. It’s not been without its ups and downs though as Katrantzou has had to grapple with the challenge of evolving her distinctive signature whilst riding trend waves. The retrospective installation of archived pieces in the centre of the show was a pertinent reminder of how an independent designer shoulders high expectations, changes in the zeitgeist and fluctuating tastes in the industry
