Our daughter @estelleonearth posted this below about the loss of her favorite artist. I asked her if I could repost, cause I thought it was very real and very telling of music and life. Thanks @macmiller .... ?? The past few days have not felt real. Mac Miller has been So much more than my favorite artist, his music guides me through my days, every single day, for years now its been something I can count on to bring me back - wherever that needs to be he’s created a space for musically. Sometimes I can’t believe how devastated I am over losing someone I never met, but it makes sense because I spend more time with his music than I do with any friends. His albums & mixtapes are the soundtrack I live my life to. About a month ago when I first heard ‘Ladders’ it immediately became my favorite song, never failing to get me dancing & singing and when I listened to it on Friday it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I can really appreciate how his music still creates a space for me to feel what I need to feel even if right now that is devastation. I am hopeful that there will come a day when listening to his music makes me happy again, but right now it’s helping me feel the sadness that I need to feel, and I’m ok with that. I’ve never had such a hard time accepting the completion of someone’s life, but this just doesn’t feel real. Mac was a lyrical hero & musical genius. His music felt like it was divinely crafted from pure source energy, and is just really fucking special. I am so grateful for all of the treasures that he gifted us during his time on Earth. This photo was taken at his show 2 years ago, it was right after trump got elected & there were riots in the streets outside the venue so Mac played more songs after the show, creating a safe space for everyone. Such a beautiful soul. A true legend. We love you Mac ❤️
