This past weekend Lindsey, Fynn and I flew up to Seattle to attended my first event put on by @verticalgeneration and the @irc. This was a fundraiser for a mentorship group called the Stonemaster Mentors who help refugee youth find positivity through climbing, as well as aid with their homework and social skills. The entire event was a climb-a-thon which had every attendee climbing hundreds and even thousands of feet in the @verticalworldclimbing to raise money.
I’ll be completely honest, I’ve never attended an event like this that wasn’t set up by a previous sponsor or was some sort of an obligation. It felt good to join this cause out of my own interest and not a brand’s. I learned about Vertical Generation, their mission and how they began contributing they way they are. Major respect you guys.
We're hoping to hit $15k and get the money triple matched by donating brands! Here are some stats as of now: We climbed a total of over 43,480 feet (8.23 miles / summiting Mt Rainier over 3 times), and raised over $12k in one night! Lindsey and I are proud to have partaken last weekend and look forward to the next event or hell... even our own event?! The future is bright and I’m learning that change brings new values and ways to appreciate the world.
