It’s close to midnight and this marks the start of something very important - Suicide Prevention Week. If you’re reading this now, I’d like to share something with you. . At some point in my life, I was high strung and very stressed, and went through many failed relationships. I found myself questioning the universe about why life can be so cruel sometimes. I started to develop anxiety issues and paranoia that led to insomnia. The longest I went without sleep was close to 4 days - and it affected my mood, my attitude, my health, my relationships, my life. . I was shrouded in negativity and couldn’t see the positive side of things no matter how hard I tried. I decided to see a professional to first of all help with my sleep issues - and also to find out what the root cause of my unhappiness was. . How could I possibly be so jaded at my age? I didn’t want that. With the love and support of my family and closest friends, I changed my perspective on life. I prioritised work according to importance. I tried to have a healthier personal life. I decided to work harder at my relationships. I emerged a happier, stronger, more resilient person that chooses not waste my energy on toxic company and negativity - but to see the brighter side of things. To always be grateful for the blessings in life, no matter how small they may be. ☺️ . Many of us ignore the importance of mental health - and that’s what leads to a lot of people resorting to unthinkable means to escape their problems. If you are going through something tough right now, or you know of someone who is not in a good place, know that you can open up and talk about it and find solutions together. There’s nothing shameful about seeking help ?? . Spread the word about Suicide Prevention Week by reaching out to those who are troubled.
