The Delta Fire, which erupted in Northern California on Wednesday, has burned more than 34 square miles of timber and brush and prompted evacuation orders for rural homes in and around Shasta-Trinity National Forest below the Oregon state line. The wildfire shut down a 45-mile stretch of Interstate 5, which is seen here completely empty in Lamoine, Calif., on Sept. 6.
