Ian Schrager’s Airbnb-countering concept for Public has received wide acclaim, and a year after the launch it’s still a hive of activity. The Studio 54 founder is renowned for capturing the cultural mood of the time, and believes that in this day and age it’s all about inclusivity rather than exclusivity. “Luxury today isn’t associated with a cost, it’s about a feeling,” he explains. Rooms go for under $200 a night, which is a rarity in the city.
