Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat, covering 4,086 square miles (10,582 sq. km) in southwestern Bolivia. This area is estimated to contain roughly 10 billion tons of salt, underneath which lies between 50% and 70% of the world’s known lithium reserves.
