I feel like I’ve finally gotten in a good rhythm at the gym. Switching from less cardio and classes and more weight training has been intimidating at times. I don’t care what anyone says, it makes me nervous going to the gym in a crowd of people sometimes. For anyone else feeling the same, here are some Lindsey tips I find useful. . .
1. Noise cancelling headphones- because turning the sound off of the world really puts you in your own zone
2. A tour with your buddy- I like to go to the gym with someone who’s been there a few times who can show you what to do. Most of the time you already know what to do, but reassurance always feels good:
3. A spot near the mirror- there’s usually pockets of space between equipment near the mirrors. Grab some free weights and get comfortable there! You’ll start to feel better being in the mix.
4. Avoid Peak Hours- yelp or google is helpful. I think I unconsciously feel better knowing I’m avoiding the most amount of people as possible. Haha
5. Supplements and gear- the right supplements bring the right results. A good preworkout can help spike your mood and energy and a nice BCAA helps to build and retain muscle. I sip @1stPhorm BCAA’s throughout my workout and I can really tell the difference when I’m consistent with it and when I’m not.
