The last semester of my senior year of college I dropped out.

My Grandpa Jud was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and needed to be looked after. Mom and Dad were incredibly stressed with trying to figure out which of the two of them would stop working to take care of Grandpa.

Once he was moved in I was there from morning until the changing of the guard aka my mom came home from work.
A year prior I had bought my first camera. Studying print design wasn’t cutting it for me and I needed something else to feed my creative hunger. I begin to photograph anything and everything and loved it.

While taking care of my Grandpa Jud, he became my subject. He was always in good natural light and we’d share the silentest of moments. I didn’t realize I was documenting him nor did I realize I was learning how to photograph a subject over time.
I documented him for a year before getting my first job in Chicago. Looking back at these images make me so happy that I have these moments for myself and my mom has photos of her dad.
