Protesters on The University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill knocked down the controversial 'Silent Sam' Confederate statue on Monday night, 105 years after it was erected. Students, faculty and alumni have previously called the statue racist and asked officials to remove it. The university said in a statement that it is investigating the incident as an act of vandalism: "Tonight’s actions were dangerous, and we are very fortunate that no one was injured." #campus #protest #silentsam #northcarolina #unc
