i grew up in hawai's doing plays with so many genius actors who also happened to be asian... and when we left the islands, the opportunities for them all but vanished. so few are still acting and it's a loss not only to them but to the industry that's bereft of their talent. i hope the success of this weekend's #crazyrichasians starts to change that.
this is me and @deankaneshiro in a performance of #thegovernmentinspector directed by mark weil, a brilliant guest director from uzbekistan who changed our lives. dean was sensational - at 17 - leading the play. i wish we had a better picture but we were too busy having fun to take any.
