Here's a sad photo that was posted last month on Instagram by a raccoon owner who had her pet raccoon declawed on all four paws. ???
I received an email yesterday from the vet at this practice in Texas and he said he has only done 10 raccoon declaws in the last 35 years.
Well, this is interesting because one of his employees told a caller this month that they just did a 2 paw raccoon declaw the day before. Another employee said that they do around 2-3 raccoon declaws a week. When a caller asked a vet tech at this practice if it's true that they do around 2-3 raccoon declaws a week, she laughed and said, "we do quite a few."
I received a tip from a supporter two days ago that an employee at this practice said you can still get your raccoon spayed and declawed if you provide proof of a license. According to @texasparkswildlife , there is no license for people to be able to own a raccoon as a pet in Texas. Please help us educate the public that they shouldn't have a raccoon as a pet and they should NEVER have its toe bones and claws amputated!
