I rarely post about anything in a ‘negative light’ but I say this because at this very moment I was absolutely gutted. We had failed, we had gone to win Gold and were taking home Silver. We had just lost to a great @aussie7s team in the @オリンピック final. I cried, I wanted to scream and just hide away and escape from everything. It was one of the most challenging moments of my rugby life so far. Dealing with a loss on the other side of the world. Knowing that everyone...the whole of NZ and especially our own team, expected us to be leaving as champions.
It’s hard to accept, but we lost because of ourselves. We were just not meant to win.

2 years on, I now know that if it wasn’t for that day back then, we wouldn’t have accomplished what we have so far. It has given me so many lessons, both positive and negative. All of those learnings I will value and use throughout my rugby career•
