No, this is not some figment of my imagination whipped up in photoshop. This is an actual cascade of Ignited liquid sulphuric flowing out of an actual Volcano.
This is easily one of the most technically challenging photos I’ve taken to date. To get the shot right, you have to withstand bouts of acidic sulphuric gases washing over your eyes and clogging up your lungs as you simultaneously fight other tourists to put off their flashlights.
The flames are as a result of liquid sulphur oozing out of vents in the ground created by the local miners. Crazy to think that they operate in these harsh conditions on a daily basis and then proceed to haul 100 pounds of sulphur up to the crater rim of this Volcano before the sun even rises. Talk about the daily grind
Swipe right to see the molten sulphur bubbling crackling and bubbling as it burns. Truly one of the most magical phenomenons I’ve experienced.
