Learning from a Gold medalist martial arts master...???. Let’s talk stunt people/movement ACTORS. The people who risk every inch of their skin and sometimes even their life, to make us look cool. They bleed, bruise, break bones for the sake of OUR character and people’s entertainment. They train us for hours, observe us so they may learn to move/look like us and have the patience on top of it all to deal with some very large egos. Egos that go as far as declaring they can master (in months) a highly complex craft that other artists have spent their whole life perfecting. As an ex-classical ballerina I find this an act of complete and utter disrespect, not only to the stunt community and the individual covering your ass but to artistry and craftsmanship itself. We must respect the endless amounts of pain, time and struggle it takes to achieve the excellence of any work. Only then can we achieve that greatness. If we don’t come from that place than maybe we shouldn’t be asking for people to applaud/award our own work. Learning/training with Jianxu Wushu master, Gold Medalist Ming Qiu @sunmoonl and feeling so grateful. Having her give me commands, correct my form (which needs soooo much work but look at that kick!!! Hahaha!) and tell me “do it again! do it again!” until I get the sequence to the point where I can do it myself... is a BLESSING! My job allows me to LEARN from the best and THAT as far as I am concerned, is a privilege and the award I get to win every single time I train with them. To every single stunt/double/artist woman and man who has stood in the shadows cuddling their aching bones while we took the spotlight...We see you and you guys rock our world! This industry wouldn’t be the same without the masterfulness of your years of hard work and dedication! THANK YOU teachers... @timconnolly_one @hannahbetts1 @nat_pad @katieohhh #Respect #EmpowerWhatReflectsYourHumanity #agentsofshield #Stunts @sarahlaneps103
