Livestock are starving and soil is becoming dust as Australian farmers battle a crippling drought called the worst in a century. An emergency relief package has been welcomed, but a local farmer says “it barely touches the sides.” Now, with the prospect of a dry El Nino weather pattern hitting the state in the spring, the longer term outlook for rain is dire.
