UNBELIEVABLE: Greece has suffered another huge blow with the cancellation of a charity performance due to raise €50,000 for victims of last weeks fires. The performance of Antigone had been scheduled to take place in an outdoor amphitheatre in #neamakri prior to the tragic fires & subsequently production had dedicated all earnings to the victims.
#Antigone is a famous Greek play about a sister wanting proper burial rights for her brother against the wishes of the King. It is theatre clearly portraying power dominating over ethics & morality & given the publics outcry over the government's culpability for the fires that have taken over 100 lives, the message of the play was obviously seen by those in power as a threat. The play was to be performed last night but Cancellation BY THE GOVERNMENT was announced two hours prior to the performance. A bewildered audience watched as the stage was taken down, sound system dismantled & the actors escorted away.

When art is controlled by government the voice of freedom is extinguished.
