In the past year, I have given every part of my mind, body and soul to pick myself off the ground and charge full speed ahead. I stand the day before the World Championships knowing I did everything to get fit, fast, and smart to compete. I am who I am and this is the athlete that has been created with every ounce of heart. I can’t guarantee my results, but I can guarantee this: no matter what place I am in I will fight for every inch that I gain on that race course. Tomorrow, I stand shoulder to shoulder with coach and together we enter this regatta with our heads up, eyes forward and fighting until all my scars bleed golden.
