This view never gets old! ?Our astronauts take in 16 sunrises and sunsets each day as the International Space Station (@国際宇宙ステーション) orbits our home planet every 90 minutes at a speed of 17,500 miles per hour. This image, taken aboard our orbiting laboratory on July 20, shows one of four basketball court-sized main solar arrays that power the space station, in contrast to the bright blue glow of Earth's limb in the background as the orbital complex flew over eastern China.
An international crew of six people are currently living and working aboard on the space station. While living aboard humanity’s only permanently occupied microgravity laboratory, they will work on hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science, being sure to capture stunning imagery like this along the way.
