The first major US survey of the remarkable brutalist architecture built during Yugoslavia’s 45 years of existence opens at @ニューヨーク近代美術館 in New York. ‘Toward a Concrete Utopia’ includes newly commissioned photographs by Valentin Jeck – pictured here, the Avala TV Tower, designed by architects Uglješa Bogunović and Slobodan Janjić, and engineer Milan Krstić. The tower was originally completed in 1965; it was destroyed by bombing in the spring of 1999, and reconstruction took place between 2006-2009, reopening in 2010.
