The underlying issue around meat and dairy consumption is subsidies. The animal agriculture industry receives direct subsidies(i.e your federal and state tax dollars), and indirect subsidies in the form of water, land, roads, grain, oil, etc. So here’s an idea even Republicans should be able to support: stop spending billions of dollars of tax revenue annually, and let meat and dairy actually cost what they cost.. the truly horrifying part of this is that our tax dollars subsidize an industry that destroys communities, destroys animals, and leads to almost a Trillion dollars in yearly health care costs. Stop subsidizing meat and dairy production and everyone except for the shareholders at big agri-business firms benefits.
