I love this photo my colleague took last year when we went to watch Soma Nomaoi - she managed to capture the moment perfectly: participants in this ancient festival look to the sky, with the hopes of spotting the sacred flag shot into the air with a cannon. After they spot it, they dart towards it on horseback, battling to be the first person to catch it. Soma Nomaoi Festival is happening this weekend in Minami Soma - don't miss out!!
