My favorite thing about summer is all of the events and gatherings that the city is abuzz with. Below are a few of my personal go-tos. Make sure to pop over to the blog to read the rest of the list. • Rent a Boat : Whether it’s an electric Duffy boat in Newport Beach (seen above), a wine sailing tour in Malibu, a swan boat on Echo Park Lake, or a row boat in Central Park, getting out on the water is the perfect escape from the heat. If you live near any body of water chances are there is a boat rental near by.
• Rooftop Movies - The days of the drive-in movie theater are over, but rooftop movie screenings are the next best thing. My personal favorite is the Rooftop Cinema Club, but there a ton of other options. Simply find your favorite rooftop spot and see if they have a schedule of events.
• Night Markets - Everyone loves a farmer’s market but my summer go-to are the dozens of Night Markets happening all over the city. From Chinatown Summer Nights and 626 Night Market to Yamashiro’s Night Market, LA has more nighttime markets than you can hope to attend in one single summer. I bet most other big cities have similar gatherings. Check your local newspaper or just google it.
