On the platform at the Secaucus train station, I finished reading Amber Tamblyn’s ANY MAN. I am utterly and blissfully speechless. This was such a moving piece of writing. The subject matter being about male sexual assault victims and the stigma around sexual assault was definitely tough, but it’s something that people do not talk enough about. It changed me for many reasons but if I have to name one: it challenged my perspective in a way that no other book has before. Tamblyn flexed her literary muscles in this work and it was evident by the visceral emotions I experienced such as horror, frustration, and even secondhand anguish.
If I had not attended Book Expo, I never would’ve heard of this title or gotten my hands on the ARC, which would have been an absolute shame. Please take a moment, go on goodreads, and give this book a try. You will be a much better person for it!
