When Michael Jackson died in 2009, artist and designer @KAWSONE was commissioned by Interview magazine to make a work that would pay tribute to the singer. KAWS based his work on a publicity image of Jackson from the 1980s. The final image is typical of the artist’s style, and features a ‘Bendy’, a worm-like character that often appears in his work, wrapped around Jackson. Also, a glove emblem, taken from Mickey Mouse is repeated in the overlay.⠀
