Dear fellow cat lovers! I need tips and advices for a friend who is taking care of strays and feral cats but is moving and wants to take her outside cats with her.
Here is the situation: Since more than four years she is taking care of a couple of feral cats that lives near her place. At first it was impossible to go near them without them running away but after four years she has managed to gain their trust. She also have arranged the sort of cave space outside her house for them with beds, toys, litter and their food area. You can see it on the pic.
Even if they are strays and roam the countryside all day and night this cave is now their main place, their secure nest. They lives here full time now and are bot spayed, identified to her name and vaccinated. #tnr
Even if she has three cats and a dog, the lady cat is now also entering my friend's house to take naps, eat some treats or when it rains. She can stroke her lightly but she is still affraid of hand gestures. The boy cat, who is fiv+, always stays outside but very close to the entrance. She can't really touch him but he trusts her. When he was sick he let her manipulate him and put him in a box to go to the vet so... My friend is moving soon and wants to take them with her. She will have a house with a garden and wish to put a garden caban for them on it to live there instead of the sort of cave they are now.
So her problems is that if she is not there anymore and the cats came back, she knows that the neighbours are gonna chase them because they don't like cats. How to make them want to stay at the new place?
She is moving only 4km from her original place. That means not far from their territory/roaming area. Won't they be able to find their way to the original spot?
What can she do to keep them free but in a new place/territory?
