President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were greeted with pomp and circumstance—and protesters—upon their arrival to Blenheim Palace for a black-tie gala dinner on July 12. British Prime Minister Theresa May and her husband, Philip May, received the Trumps; the four stood on the steps in the Great Court to watch the bands of the Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards perform a ceremonial welcome to the palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill. During the event, hosted by May, The Sun newspaper published a range of comments from an explosive interview with #Trump. The president slammed May's "soft" blueprint for the U.K.’s future dealings with the European Union would probably “kill” any future trade deals with the United States, the Associated Press reports. Trump also told the newspaper that Boris Johnson, #Britain's ex-foreign secretary, would make an "excellent" prime minister; claimed Europe is "losing its culture" due to immigration from Africa and the Middle East; and admitted he feels "unwelcome" in #London—due in part to the planned flying of a giant "Trump baby" balloon during protests there on Friday.
